Houston Methodist St. John adopted Dickinson High School right before Christmas 2012. With all of the units on board and excited about spreading the Christmas cheer we were able to give 33 families and 158 people a fabulous Christmas with presents, food and basic needs over the holidays. Over the following months the staff has provided 90 at risk students with food, snacks and school supplies. Houston Methodist St. John recently adopted 26 seniors and sent them to prom. Cynthia Broussard has been the driving force in creating a fortuitous partnership. Her passion for helping and her huge heart are evident in all the work that she does.
In addition to working with Houston Methodist St. John Hospital, CIS at Dickinson High School also works very closely with the CHRISTUS Gator Aid – Hope Clinic and Nancy Lounds. Ms. Lounds works to diligently meet the needs of every student that CIS brings her. She goes the extra mile for so many of her students knowing that transportation, money and parental support are an issue. The students appreciate her smile and hugs that she gives out so freely in comfort but also her network of specialists that can help for further medical attention.
